Introduction to Weekly Painting with Carrie:
This tutorial is not a prerequisite for the Weekly Painting Course, however, you will gain a greater understanding of the essential art supplies needed to get started and how to navigate the overwhelming buying options online and in the stores. There will be a discussion on the different brush selections, painting surfaces, palettes, paints, and more. The drawing exercises will get you inspired and remind you how important drawing is to our development as artists! Remember, one of the joys of being an artist is developing keen observation skills in order to see the world a little differently than most!
The only supplies you will need for this class is a sketchbook (or plain paper), pencil, and an eraser!
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Weekly painting classes with renowned instructor, Carrie Curran, provide the opportunity for professional art instruction to adult students who are serious about learning and studying art while advancing their skills through continuing education. Classes are for anyone who has always wanted to pursue painting and now has the time to sign up to begin the wonderful experience of creating art.
Curriculum: The course is structured to focus on developing techniques and skill level through demos, drawing exercises, assignments and paint alongs. Students progress as they gain greater understanding of color, composition, design, brushwork and value. Everyone will be encouraged to focus on their goals and to develop their unique style as an artist. Coaching and critiques may be arranged upon request.
Oil and acrylic paints, classes are held on Wednesdays, 9am to 11am Arizona Time and sign up is monthly.
Class size and availability is limited.
Recordings will be available for classes missed.

COLORS:Raw Sienna; Cadium Lemon: Cadmium Red Light; Alizarin Crimson; French Ultramarine Blue; Cerulean Blue Hue: Viridian; Burnt Umber; Titanium White. Professional grade preferred. Gamblin for Oils and Liquitex for Acrylics
CANVAS:(2) 8” x 10”, (4) 6” X8” (stretched or boards)
SKETCHBOOK, any size sketchbook, HB & 6B pencil, vine charcoal, kneaded eraser
BRUSHES:#6 Short Long Flat; Long Flats #2, #4, #6, Rigger brush. Bristle for oils and synthetic brushes for acrylics.
OTHER ITEMS:Palette, Medium palette knife; Paper towels; Odorless Turpenoid and container for oils and Sta-Wet Palette and water container for acrylics
